Happy Runniversary!
Happy Runniversary to me!
I started running a year ago today. I can't believe it. It all started because I wanted to quit the gym and man, what a journey it's been!
In a year, I've gone from tolerating running for maybe 60 seconds at a time to finishing my first half marathon last month. I've had quite a few ups and downs, but I honestly wouldn't trade this past year for anything.
In honor of my runniversay, I want to give a shout out to everything that's kept me going this past year:
Altra and Hoka One One shoes: A good pair of shoes is a must. I wasn't too wise when I started running, but quickly found out the hard way. Though different in so many ways, I love my Altra and Hokas equally. They both kept me running strong this past year and I couldn't have done it without them.
Garmin watch: I love running, but I hated using my phone to track my runs. It killed my battery and it wasn't super accurate. Enter my super sweet Garmin GPS watch. I have the basic model and I'm cool with that. It does exactly what I need it to!
Stuff You Should Know Podcasts: Music just got too boring to me. You know what isn't boring?! Super interesting information delivered in a hilarious way. Thanks SYSK Podcast! Seriously, check them out.
PRO Compression Socks: My first pair was the February SOM and I've been addicted ever since. They're a long run game changer. They're a regular run game changer. I love them and I secretly wear them to work all of the time because they feel THAT good! Seriously. PRO Compression gets it right and they keep releasing new socks and if they don't stop soon I'm going to go bankrupt.
Kinesiotape: My left leg is crap and has been for quite some time. I would just like to personally thank kinesiotape for holding it together for me while I try to run. That is all.
Not the prettiest knee ever. |
Momentum Jewelry: You know that mantra you say to yourself over and over when the going gets tough? How about having that little thing handy around your wrist all of the time? Running is tough for me. I (like a lot of people) did not grow up running, I just happened to stumble upon it one day. It's still really difficult a lot of the time. Momentum Jewelry is like my own little cheerleader whenever I need a little pick me up. I can't tell you the number of times I've looked down at my wrist and just smiled because of my bracelets. They've helped me more times than I can count.
And speaking of Momentum Jewelry...
It's time for my first giveaway!
I love them so much and I want to share them with all of you! I'm giving away one Momentum Jewelry Motivate Wrap to one lucky winner!
So I want to hear from you!
How has running changed you? What things keep you running?

ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about running is proving to myself that I can do it. In gym in high school, I was the kid that hated running and would get 12-13min mile times. Recently I've been running low 8:00 min miles for a lot longer than one mile. Woohoo!
ReplyDeleteI like accomplishing goals and running makes that happen.

ReplyDeleteI actually am not a good runner. I cannot run very far but I am an extreme walker. I walk more miles than anyone around here. Found that running shoes are the best for it. Your feet hurt way less and don't get sweaty. My kids love my walks...they say it's an adventure...
