Why I'm Running Rock n' Roll Brooklyn

Disclaimer: I received free entry to Rock n' Roll Brooklyn Half Marathon as part of being a BibRave Pro. Learn more about becoming a BibRave Pro (ambassador), and check out BibRave.com to review, find, and write race reviews!  Well, I decided to add another 1/2 marathon to my schedule for the year. I swore to myself that after Rock n' Roll Philly in September I was going to be D-O-N-E DONE with 1/2 marathons for a little bit. Rock n' Roll Chicago was SO fun and I was itching to add another race to my schedule. And then I got the opportunity to run Rock n' Roll Brooklyn on October 14, 2017 as part of being a BibRave Pro I KNEW I had to take it! So why did I decide to run another race? Great question! The Course is AMAZING: Though I've spent a lot of time in Manhattan and New York state over the years since my husband's family is from the area, I've really never been to Brooklyn (except for a REALLY terrifying 3am subway ride...but that&#

Rock n Roll Chicago Weekend!

A week has come and gone since my amazing Rock n Roll Chicago weekend began. I've had time to reflect on my races and how much fun it really was. I arrived in Chicago on Friday morning. I woke up at 3am (yikes!) to make my 7:15am flight and then got to spend most of the day with my family in Chicago. Friday was probably the hottest day and I was nervous about the heat for race day. I was compulsively checking the weather report on my phone and it looked good for Saturday with a question of rain on Sunday. Come Saturday morning w

A little less than a year ago I couldn't run more than 3 miles without terrible pain in my left foot. If I did run, I was left hobbling around my house the rest of the day unable to put my full weight down. I never thought I would be "normal" again. I did everything I could to treat my chronic plantar fasciitis. From stretching to strengthening to all types of inserts, if it mentioned the plantar fascia I was all about it. Needless to say I was frustrated and sad. My luck changed one day in late December when I came across the website for Wiivv, a new custom 3D printed insole that looked too good to be true. (I explain the process a bit more in my previous post) Nothing helped me before, surely this couldn't help me now. Well, I ordered a pair a full length insoles and my running life changed. As soon as I got my insoles I could tell they were different than anything I had ever tried before. My foot pain was gone when I used them and the pain I felt after my
